Malmo MCM armchairs

Another hard rubbish find rescued from the crusher truck! This pair of armchairs was made by Adelaide manufacturer Malmo furniture. One Armrest had sustained some damage and the original webbing had been replaced with a melamine board under the seat cushions. Both chairs needed to have their joints cleaned and re-glued. I chose a rich orange colour for the commercial grade upholstery fabric and decided to change up the frames by staining them deep brown for contrast. I reinstated the original webbing design and put a fresh layer of Dacron over the original foam cushions.

A testament to the quality of mid century solid timber furniture, a little bit of elbow grease and some know how go a long way. This pair went to a new home for another life cycle, to be appreciated for many years to come.
